Today God says:
"The trying of your faith will work patience into you".
He promises me:
"My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into different temptations: Knowing this, that the trying of your faith works patience". (James 1:2)
My response to the word:
The trying of my faith is much more precious than gold. When times of temptation and tribulation come it's difficult to be joyful, but when I realize that these experiences build patient endurance into me, I regain my joy. The joy of the Lord is not a fickle emotion that is based on the circumstance I'm experiencing; rather, it is an abiding happiness that comes from the knowledge that God has everything under control.
My prayer:
Lord, thank you for working patience into my life through the trials I face. I will walk in your joy today.

On 5th December 1860, Charles Thomas Studd was born in Spratton, Northamptonshire, England. During his younger days, he was a famous England Cricketer. From a wealthy family, upon his conversion under the ministry of D. L. Moody, he gave away his fortune, and in 1885 sailed for China, where he lived in native Chinese fashion. In 1900 he went to India, where, in 1906, his health broke. Contrary to medical advice, in 1910 he sailed for Africa, and there he laboured until his death in 1931. He was responsible for setting up the Heart of Africa Mission which became the Worldwide Evangelisation Crusade.
On 5th December 1907, William Barclay was born in Wick, Scotland. After study at Glasgow he became minister of Trinity Church, Renfrew. He lectured at both Glasgow and Strathclyde. He began production of his Daily Study Bible readings in 1954 and produced more than 50 books.
