<Yesterday    Tomorrow>

Today God says:
 "The trying of your faith will work patience into you".

He promises me:
  "My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into different temptations: Knowing this, that the trying of your faith works patience". (James 1:2)

My response to the word:
  The trying of my faith is much more precious than gold. When times of temptation and tribulation come it's difficult to be joyful, but when I realize that these experiences build patient endurance into me, I regain my joy. The joy of the Lord is not a fickle emotion that is based on the circumstance I'm experiencing; rather, it is an abiding happiness that comes from the knowledge that God has everything under control.

My prayer:
  Lord, thank you for working patience into my life through the trials I face. I will walk in your joy today.

Today's scriptures:
 "Today is a holy day for the Lord. Don't be sad because the joy you have in the Lord is your strength". (Neh. 8:10 GW) "The purpose of these troubles is to test your faith as fire tests how genuine gold is. Your faith is more precious than gold, and by passing the test, it gives praise, glory, and honour to God". (1 Peter 1:7 GW) "Dear friends, don't be surprised by the fiery troubles that are coming in order to test you. Don't feel as though something strange is happening to you, but be happy as you share Christ's sufferings". (1 Peter 4:12,13 GW)

Quote for today:
Faith is: dead to doubts, dumb to discouragements, blind to impossibilities. (Anon)
