Today God says:
"Everlasting joy shall be upon your head".
He promises me:
"Therefore the redeemed of the Lord shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away". (Isa. 51:11)
My response to the word:
Everlasting joy! What a promise that is! Joy that never ceases - that is God's promise to me. I will walk in His joy throughout this day, and as I do so, all sorrow and mourning shall flee away. I will keep my heart free from hate, my mind free from worry, and my mouth free from corrupt words. I will rejoice in the Lord. In this way, everlasting joy will be upon my head.
My prayer:
God, help me to walk in your everlasting joy throughout this day. Thank you for your promise of joy and gladness.

On 8th December 1691, Richard Baxter died in London at age 76 years. He was born in Rowton, Shropshire. He was an English Puritan church leader, poet, hymnodist, theologian, and controversialist. Dean Stanley called him "the chief of English Protestant Schoolmen".
On 8th December 1909, James Edward Lesslie Newbigin was born in Newcastle upon Tyne. Though originally ordained within the Church of Scotland, Newbigin spent much of his career serving as a missionary in India and became affiliated with the Church of South India and the United Reformed Church, becoming one of the Church of South India's first bishops
