<Yesterday    Tomorrow>

Today God says:
 "I am the Father of lights: I do not change".

He promises me:
  "Every good gift, and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, nor shadow or turning". (James 1:17)

My response to the word:
  God never changes. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. His immutability (unchanging nature) gives me something to hold on to during times of transition and stress. God is the Giver of every good and perfect gift, and He has given so many gifts to me. I will walk in the knowledge of His unchanging stability throughout this day.

My prayer:
  Lord, thank you for always being there and for always being the same. I am so glad that you never change.

Today's scriptures:
 "God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in times of trouble". (Ps. 46:1 GW) "I, the Lord, never change. That is why you descendents of Jacob haven't been destroyed yet". (Mal. 3:6 GW) "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever". (Heb. 13:8 GW)

Quote for today:
What God has done once is a prophecy of what He intends to do again. (Charles Spurgeon)

On this day:
On 11th December 1897 George Lawrence Pilkington was killed in Uganda during an anti-British militia uprising. Born in Dublin in 1865 and educated at Cambridge, he volunteered to work in Uganda with the Church Missionary Society. He mastered the Luganda language and prepared a basic grammar and the first Bible tranlation. He emphasized the baptism of the Holy Spirit in his personal ministry and promoted the idea of self-supporting and self-propagating local churches.
On 11th December 1917, Field Marshall Allenby conquered the Turks in the first World War in Palestine. Arriving at Jerusalem on horseback, Allenby dismounted and together with his officers, entered the city on foot through the Jaffa Gate out of respect for the status of Jerusalem as the Holy City important to Judaism, Christianity and Islam He guaranteed the safety of all the historic sites in Jerusalem.
