<Yesterday    Tomorrow>

Today God says:
 "I have overcome the world".

He promises me:
  "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you might have peace. In the world you shall have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world". (John 16:33)

My response to the word:
  God loves me, and He wants me to experience the peace that comes from knowing that Jesus has already overcome the world. He also wants me to know that it is through faith in Him that I too have victory over the world. This enables me to be cheerful throughout the day. The Prince of peace has already defeated the evil and sin of the world. I will remember that the world at its worst needs me to be at my best. My best is only achieved as I yield my life to Jesus Christ, my Lord and Saviour.

My prayer:
  Lord, I yield my life to you. You have given me victory over the world. Even when worldly tribulations come to me, I take heart in the fact that Jesus has already overcome the world. This assurance gives me great peace. Thank you, Lord.

Today's scriptures:
 "Obeying His commandments isn't difficult because everyone who has been born from God has won the victory over the world. Our faith is what wins the victory over the world. Who wins the victory over the world? Isn't it the person who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?". (1 John 5:4,5 GW) "I am the A and the Z, says the Lord God, the One who is, the One who was, and the One who is coming, the Almighty". (Rev. 1:8 GW)

Quote for today:
The triumphant Christian does not fight for victory; he celebrates a victory already won. (Reginald Wallis)

On this day:
On 13th April 1742, the first performance of Handel's Messiah took place in Dublin, Ireland. Seven months earlier, he sat alone in a little house in Brook Street, London a broken man thinking his career was over. A writer named Jennens gave him some words taken from Scripture, and Handel set them to music - Messiah.
