<Yesterday    Tomorrow>

Today God says:
 "The sorrow I impart to you leads you to repentance".

He promises me:
  "For godly sorrow works repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world works death". (2 Cor. 7:10)

My response to the word:
  I can't even boast about my repentance for my sins. Such repentance is a gift of God's grace to me. His sorrow works repentance into my soul, giving me spiritual life. This is unlike the sorrow of the world which leads to death. I realize that true repentance has at least two aspects: it looks upon past failures and sins with a weeping eye, and it looks upon the future with a watchful eye. I will be vigilant in my stance against sin throughout this day.

My prayer:
  Heavenly Father, thank you for your goodness which leads me to repentance. When I confess my sins, you are faithful and just to forgive my sins and to cleanse me from all unrighteousness. I confess my sins to you now and receive your forgiveness and cleansing. Thank you, Father.

Today's scriptures:
 "Do you have contempt for God, who is very kind to you, puts up with you, and deals patiently with you? Don't you realize that it is God's kindness that is trying to lead you to Him and change the way you think and act?". (Rom. 2:4 GW) "But I'm happy now, not because I made you uncomfortable, but because the distress I caused you has led you to change the way you think and act". (2 Cor. 7:9 GW) "He must be gentle in correcting those who oppose the Good News. Maybe God will allow them to change the way they think and act and lead them to know the truth". (2 Tim. 2:25 GW)

Quote for today:
The voice of sin may be loud, but the voice of forgiveness is louder. (D L Moody)

On this day:
On 16th April 2013, George Beverly Shea died at Montreat, North Carolina, aged 104 years. The soloist sang with the Billy Graham crusades for over 50 years, and recorded 70 albums. He is said to have sung to more people live than any other singer in history.
