<Yesterday    Tomorrow>

Today God says:
 "I am a very present help in times of trouble".

He promises me:
  "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble". (Ps. 46:1)

My response to the word:
  God is the rock of my strength. He is my refuge and my fortress. I place all of my trust in Him. My God is a very present help to me. He never leaves me or forsakes me. He is the God who is always there.

My prayer:
  Lord God, you are my refuge and my strength. You are with me. I will abide in the safety of your loving presence throughout this day.

Today's scriptures:
 "We wait for the Lord. He is our help and our shield". (Ps. 33:20 GW) "My salvation and my glory depend on God. God is the rock of my strength, my refuge". (Ps. 62:7 GW) "So we can confidently say, 'The Lord is my helper. I will not be afraid. What can mortals do to me?". (Hebr. 13:5 GW)

Quote for today:
Stand still … and refuse to retreat. Look at it as God looks at it and draw upon His power to hold up under the blast. (Charles Swindoll)

On this day:
On 19th January 1568, Miles Coverdale died in London aged 80 years, publisher of the first printed English Bible, the "Great Bible" of 1539. He completed the translation of the Old Testament which William Tyndale had left unfinished at his death in 1536. Much of this work was done in Geneva and Germany as his life was in danger in England.

"Scriptures are taken from the King James Bible or those marked (GW) are from the God's Word Translation, used with permission".
