<Yesterday    Tomorrow>

Today God says:
 "Present your body a living sacrifice to Me".

He promises me:
  "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service (worship). And do not be conformed to this world; but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God". (Rom. 12:1,2)

My response to the word:
  With the Lord's help, I will obey Him throughout this day. I start by presenting my body a living sacrifice unto Him because I know this is my reasonable service of worship in light of His many mercies to me. I will resist all conformity to this world-system, and I will cooperate in my spiritual transformation by allowing my mind to be renewed by the Word of God. This, I realize, will enable me to prove God's good, acceptable, and perfect will in my life.

My prayer:
  Lord, thank you for all your mercies in my life. I give you my life. Take my life and let it be consecrated to you in every aspect. Use me throughout this day, Father.

Today's scriptures:
 "You were bought with a price. So bring glory to God in the way you use your body". (1 Cor. 6:20 GW) "You were bought with a price. Don't become anyone's slaves". (1 Cor. 7:23 GW) "Now that Epaphroditus has brought me your gifts, you have filled my needs. Your gifts are a soothing aroma, a sacrifice that God accepts and with which He is pleased". (Phi. 4:18 GW)

Quote for today:
Adoption gives us the rights of children, but regeneration alone gives us the nature of children. (Charles Spurgeon)

On this day:
On 23rd April 1544, William Shakespeare was born in Stratford upon Avon. One of the greatest authors, he wrote many plays and other works which are still regularly performed today. Also on 23rd April in 1616 he died in Stratford upon Avon, where he is buried.
On 23rd April 1960, Toyohiko Kagawa died in Tokyo, Japan at the age of 71 years. Born an illegitimate child he was lonely and bitter. He found faith in Christ from missionaries and devoted himself to study. Kagawa wrote, spoke, and worked at length on ways to employ Christian principles in the ordering of society and in cooperatives. His vocation to help the poor led him to live among them.
