<Yesterday    Tomorrow>

Today God says:
 "Commit your works to Me, and I will establish your thoughts".

He promises me:
  "Commit your works unto the Lord, and you thoughts shall be established". (Prov. 16:3)

My response to the word:
  Throughout this day I will keep my mind focused on God and I will commit everything I do unto Him. In this way, I know my mind will be renewed and my thoughts will be established. Acting (or speaking) without thinking is a lot like shooting without aiming. My goal is to think God's thoughts (as they are expressed in His Word) throughout this day.

My prayer:
  Lord, I commit my works to you. Thank you for establishing my thoughts.

Today's scriptures:
 "Into your hands I entrust my spirit. You have rescued me, O Lord, God of truth". (Ps. 31:5 GW) "Entrust your ways to the Lord. Trust Him, and He will act on your behalf". (Ps. 37:5 GW) "I know Whom I trust. I'm convinced that He is able to protect what He had entrusted to me until that day". (2 Tim. 1:12 GW)

Quote for today:
Between the great things we cannot do and the small things we will not do, the danger is that we shall do nothing. (Rene Monod)

On this day:
On 16th August 1875, early 19th century Presbyterian revivalist Charles G. Finney died aged 82. Converted at 29, he led revivals for several years before affiliating with Oberlin College in 1835, where he spent the rest of his professional life. Many of his books are still in print.
