<Yesterday    Tomorrow>

Today God says:
 "You do not have certain things because you have not asked Me for them".

He promises me:
  "You have not because you ask not". (James 4:2)

My response to the word:
  The Apostle James simply states that asking is the key to receiving from God. He goes on to say, "You ask and do not receive because you ask amiss, that you may consume it upon your lusts". It's important for me to remember how to ask, however. From my study of the Word, I know that I must ask in faith, with confidence, according to God's will, and I must abide in Jesus and let the Word of God abide in me. To do otherwise is to ask amiss.

My prayer:
  Father, teach me how to pray properly. I always want to please you.

Today's scriptures:
 "When you pray for things, you don't get them because you want them for the wrong reason - for your own pleasure". (James 4:3 GW) "This is His commandment: to believe in His Son, the one named Jesus Christ, and to love each other as He commanded us". (1 John 3:23 GW) "We are confident that God listens to us if we ask for anything that has His approval. We know that He listens to our requests. So we know that we already have what we ask Him for". (1 John 5:14,15 GW)

Quote for today:
When we go to God by prayer, the devil knows we go to fetch strength against him, and therefore he opposes us all he can. (R Sibbes)
