<Yesterday    Tomorrow>

Today God says:
 "Be merciful, and you shall receive mercy"

He promises me:
  "Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy". (Matt. 5:7)

My response to the word:
  God's mercy and faithfulness are new to me each day. I will walk in His mercy and share His mercy wherever I go today. God's mercy and grace stem from His great compassion for me. Though I do not deserve these blessings, I receive them and determine to show my gratitude for them at all times by extending mercy and compassion to those around me.

My prayer:
  Heavenly Father, thank you for your mercy, grace, and favour in my life. I will walk in your mercy throughout this day.

Today's scriptures:
 "Give thanks to the Lord because He is good, because His mercy endures forever". (Ps. 107:1 GW) "I prayed to the Lord my God. I confessed and said, 'Lord, you are great and deserve respect as the only God. You keep your promise and show mercy to those who love you and obey your commandments". (Dan. 9:4 GW)

Quote for today:
Delay has produced the patience of hope, and made every mercy of double value. (Charles Spurgeon)

On this day:
On 23rd August 1952 Frederick George Kenyon, British archaeologist and language scholar, died aged 89. Kenyon devoted his life to discovering biblical parallels in ancient Greek papyri, convincing critics that science does not disprove the Bible.
