<Yesterday    Tomorrow>

Today God says:
 "I have set you apart for Myself".

He promises me:
  "But know that the Lord has set apart him that is godly for Himself: the Lord will hear when I call unto Him". (Ps. 4:3)

My response to the word:
  God has sanctified me and set me apart for Himself. He promises to hear my prayers. I realize the truth of this saying: "It is not always the most talented people who serve the Lord best - it is the consecrated ones". Throughout this day, I will realize that God has consecrated me - set me apart - for His service, and I will be happy in the service of my King.

My prayer:
  Take my life and let it be consecrated, Lord, to you. Take every part of my life and use me in your service. Thank you, Lord, for setting me apart and promising to hear and answer my prayers.

Today's scriptures:
 "I also gave them certain days to worship Me as a sign between us that they would know that I, the Lord, made them holy". (Ezek. 20:12 GW) "Use the truth to make them holy. Your words are truth" (John 17:17 GW) "He did this to make the church holy by cleansing it, washing it using water along with spoken words". (Eph. 5:26 GW)

Quote for today:
Each one of us is different, unique, so that we can function in our roles. (Florence Littauer)

On this day:
On 13th May 1839, William Paton Mackay, Scottish physician and pastor, was born at Montrose, Scotland. Educated at the University of Edinburgh, he practiced medicine for a few years. Feeling called to the ministry, he abandoned his medical practice, was ordained, and became pastor of the Prospect Street Church, Hull, in 1868. Seventeen of his hymns were printed in 1872. He gave us the challenging hymn "Revive Us Again." He died on 22 August 1885 in Portree, Scotland, as the result of an accident when he fell from the pier while boarding a ferry.
