Today God says:
"Love not the world".
He promises me:
"Love not the world, nor the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him". (1 John 2:15)
My response to the word:
The world and the things of the world used to hold appeal to me, but since I came to know Jesus these things mean very little to me. Throughout this day I will remember the words of my Lord Jesus, who said, "Seek first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you". As I obey this command, I know that everything else will be taken care of.
My prayer:
Lord God, thank you for weaning me away from the things of this world. Throughout this day I will put you first, and I will seek your righteousness. Thank you for all the blessings you have given to me.
Today's scriptures:
"But first, be concerned about His kingdom and what has His approval. Then all these things will be provided for you". (Matt. 6:33 GW) "Not everything that the world offers - physical gratification, greed, and extravagant lifestyles - comes from the Father. It comes from the world, and the world and its evil desires are passing away. But the person who does what God wants lives forever". (1 John 2:16,17 GW)
Quote for today:
We never pray for folks we gossip about, and we never gossip about the folk for whom we pray. (Leonard Ravenhill)
On this day:
"Scriptures are taken from the King James Bible or those marked (GW) are from the God's Word Translation, used with permission".
